RBI Gets approval to Print Rs 10 Plastic Notes

The Reserve Bank of India has got the approval from the Central Government to conduct the field trial of plastic banknotes of Rs. 10 denomination prior to introducing it as legal tender.

The field trial will take place across five cities having diverse geographical and climatic conditions. These cities include Kochi, Mysore, Jaipur, Shimla and Bhubaneswar.
Such notes were first introduced in Australia to safeguard against counterfeiting.
