The President Pranab Mukherjee on 31 March 2017 inaugurated the Namami Brahmaputra festival in Guwahati, Assam.
The event took in the form of a spectacular opening ceremony at the riverfront of Bharalumukh, Guwahati.
- The Namami Brahmaputra festival was conceived by the Government of Assam to strengthen the bonds among various communities of the State.
- The festival will be celebrated in 21 districts of the State that are located along the Brahmaputra in its entire stretch from Sadiya to Dhubri.
- BHEL commissioned 800 MW Supercritical Thermal Power Plant in Karnataka
- The 5-day long festival includes a soulful veneration of river Brahmaputra along with other attractions like indigenous sports, local food, the exhibition of organic tea, display of handloom and handicrafts, cultural evenings, business meetings and symposium among others.
